The Seed – Phenomenology of Good Design
“Our first collection “The Seed Series” came around by thorough research and prototypes on human needs and comfort. The main inspiration for the chair emerged from our conscious experience to Antony Gormley’s exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, in 2019. By using steel as the main material in his instal-lations, the work, called “Cave” and “Matrix III” has questioned us on how our body relationship to the space. Instead of an installation, we use furniture as a medium to connect humans and space.
The name ‘Seed’ was born from our thoughts on nature, and it simply resembles the birth of our first collection. Seed chair is a form of our investigation on the relationship of the human body to space. Made by small steel tubes as the structural frame and bending plywood as the backrest, the chair embodies the comfort and timeless look that adds a layer of softness and poetry to the spaces. Through phenomenological approach, it is thoughtfully designed by considering how this chair is going to blend and harmonize with its surrounding, especially with people’s lives.”
